Beis and Rare Beauty Collab Review: When Two Powerhouse Women Create the Drop of the Year
There are brand collaborations that feel random, the type where you can’t quite trace the logic behind why two companies decided to meet in the middle. Then there are collaborations that make so much sense you almost wonder what took so long. That’s exactly how I felt the moment Béis and Rare Beauty announced their limited-edition collection. Selena Gomez and Shay Mitchell have built two of the most impressive celebrity-founded brands in beauty and lifestyle. They both operate in that sweet spot where the branding is pretty, the performance is strong and the products don’t rely on a famous face to justify their existence. So of course the internet stopped for a second when these two worlds finally collided.
The collaboration pulls together Béis’ practical, sturdy, travel-friendly design language and Rare Beauty’s signature blush tones and soft glam identity. It’s cohesive without trying too hard. It appeals to the beauty community, the travel community and the people who sit somewhere in between, which is honestly most of us. I got my hands on the full collection, and after using everything long enough to understand what’s working and what could be better, here’s the full breakdown.
A Collection That Feels Thought Out
The collection centers itself around three main pieces: the Blush Case, the Makeup Brush Pouch and the Large Cosmetic Pouch. All of them come in Rare Beauty’s recognizable rose shade inspired by their Soft Pinch blush shade Worth. On the Béis side, you can see Shay Mitchell’s obsession with compartments, structure and systems. The result feels like an actual blend of both companies. Nothing feels like a reskinned version of an existing item. Everything has a specific purpose, which is very Béis, and a soft femininity, which is very Rare Beauty.
When you look at the collection altogether, it feels like the kind of set you buy when you want to upgrade your daily makeup bag to something more functional but also cute enough that you want to keep it out on your vanity. I’ve used Béis for years and Rare Beauty since their first launch, so I already walked in with high expectations. I’ll admit I was ready to pick this apart if it felt like a hype-driven release instead of something genuinely helpful. But to my surprise, everything had more detail and more intention than I expected.
The Large Cosmetic Pouch
A Makeup Lover’s DreamThe biggest piece in the collection is also the most familiar in terms of structure if you already own Béis. This one, though, feels noticeably more beauty-driven. It’s roomy, structured and packed with small features that matter more than you realize until you start using them.
Inside, there are scrunch pockets, divided sections, brush holders and a clear storage compartment. There’s even an insulated pocket that keeps products cool and separated from the rest of your items. This is especially helpful if you travel with skincare or cream products that don’t respond well to heat. The lining is wipeable, which is essential because spills happen.
The Makeup Brush Pouch
This pouch is the most practical item in the collection. Béis already has a reputation for making solid brush organizers, but this one is sized in a way that works for everyday use instead of just travel. The wipeable lining is a lifesaver because brushes get messy quickly, especially cream products. I loaded it with my most-used face and eye brushes and still had room for a few extras.
The elastic loops are secure enough to hold thick foundation brushes without stretching them out and delicate enough that they don’t dent slimmer eye brushes. The difference with this pouch is that you can actually throw it in your bag without feeling like you’re carrying a bulky organizer.
The Blush Case
The Star of the DropLet’s start with the piece that had everyone talking. The Blush Case is probably the most unique item in the collection simply because it introduces a new way of carrying something we usually throw loosely into our bags. If you’re a Soft Pinch blush loyalist, this might be the first time you’ve been offered a way to actually protect the blush instead of just hoping it doesn’t leak or get buried at the bottom of a tote.
It’s a compact, structured mini case that clips onto your keys, bag or pouch. It snaps open and closed with a firm seal. Inside, there’s a slot perfectly shaped for Rare Beauty’s blush bottles, which does a great job keeping the product upright.
What I Like
The first thing that stood out to me is how cohesive the collection feels without forcing a theme. Lots of celebrity collaborations end up leaning too heavily on branding and not enough on function, but this one gets the ratio right. You can tell that both teams looked at how beauty lovers actually move through their day.
The shade choice makes the collection pretty enough to keep out on your vanity but not loud enough to feel trendy or seasonal. The brush pouch is easily the strongest everyday item. The blush case is the most fun and unique. The large cosmetic pouch is the workhorse you’ll appreciate long after the hype of the collaboration fades.
Everything feels sturdy. The hardware, the stitching, the lining and the zippers all have the classic Béis feel. Rare Beauty’s influence is mostly aesthetic, but it’s done in a way that truly elevates the pieces instead of making them look like collector’s items you’d be scared to use.
What Could Be Better
Nothing in the collection is poorly designed, but there are a few things worth noting. The blush case, while adorable, is most valuable to someone already committed to Rare Beauty’s blush. If you switch blushes often or use multiple formulas, it becomes more of a novelty than a daily accessory.
The brush pouch could benefit from slightly more structure on the outside for people who travel frequently, because soft pouches don’t protect delicate brushes from getting crushed inside a stuffed suitcase. It works beautifully for everyday life, but for long trips, you may want something firmer.
What makes this collaboration stand out is how naturally the two brands complement each other. Béis brings the function. Rare Beauty brings the softness. Together, they created something that feels mature and thoughtful. It’s not a gimmick. It’s not a quick cash grab. It’s genuinely useful.
If you love beauty, travel or organization, you will find something in this collection that fits into your routine. If you’re a Rare Beauty fan, the aesthetic will make you happy every time you open your bag. If you’re a Béis loyalist, the functionality will feel familiar in the best way.
This collaboration isn’t just pretty packaging. It serves a purpose, and it does it well. When two powerhouse women come together, you expect something big, and this drop delivers exactly that.
Love,
Rae
